Julia Esquerdo é mestra e bacharel em Artes Visuais pelo Instituto de Artes e atualmente cursa a licenciatura na UERJ. Sua pesquisa investiga o ser bailarina, expondo o laboratório a que esse corpo é submetido para tornar-se um dos produtos do Clássico. Com a natureza permeando seu discurso, aproxima o espectador da origem daquela criatura, entendendo seu desenvolvimento e questionando seu lugar de pertencimento. Para isso, a artista realiza um desmembramento conceitual, dando a possibilidade de não só compreendê-lo, mas também de acolher, aprofundar e aceitar aquele ser como parte de um ideal inalcançável.

Julia Esquerdo holds a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the Institute of Arts and is currently pursuing a teaching degree at UERJ. Her research investigates what it means to be a ballerina, exposing the kind of laboratory to which this body is subjected in order to become one of the products of the Classical tradition. With nature permeating her discourse, she brings the viewer closer to the origin of that creature, understanding its development and questioning its sense of belonging. To this end, the artist carries out a conceptual dismantling, making it possible not only to understand it, but also to embrace, deepen, and accept that being as part of an unattainable ideal.
